Privacy policy
Last updated: 5 November 2026
This policy explains what information is collected when you use Scramblix (playscramblix.com), how it is used and the choices you have. If you have any questions, contact us at hello@playscramblix.com.
Information you give us
You don't need an account to use Scramblix, and we don't ask for your name, email or other personal details. If you email us, we use your email address and message only to reply to you.
What stays on your device
- Letters and words you type are processed in your browser and are not sent to or stored on our servers.
- Preferences and scores – such as dark mode, Daily Scramble results, streaks and quiz personal bests – are saved in your browser's local storage so they're there when you come back. You can clear them at any time by clearing your browser's site data.
- Photos you add to the "Photos & names" quiz stay on your device and are never uploaded.
Word definitions
When you tap a word to see its meaning, that single word is sent to a free third-party dictionary service (dictionaryapi.dev) to fetch the definition. No other information about you is included in that request beyond what any web request contains, such as your IP address.
Advertising and cookies
Scramblix is free because it shows advertising, provided by Google AdSense.
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your previous visits to this website or other websites.
- Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this and/or other sites on the internet.
- You can opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. You can also opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalised advertising at aboutads.info.
- Learn more about how Google uses information from sites that use its services.
If you are in the UK, the European Economic Area or Switzerland, we ask for your consent before personalised ads or non-essential cookies are used. You can change your choice at any time using the privacy or cookie settings link shown on the site.
Hosting and server logs
Like almost every website, our hosting provider automatically records basic technical information when pages are requested – such as IP address, browser type and the page visited – to keep the site secure and working. These logs are kept for a limited time and are not used to identify you.
Analytics
If we use an analytics service to understand how many people visit and which tools are popular, it will be listed here along with how to opt out.
Children
Scramblix is suitable for all ages and is used by families and schools, but it is not directed specifically at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (including under UK and EU data protection law), you may have the right to access, correct or delete personal data about you, to object to or restrict its use, and to complain to a data protection authority – in the UK, the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk). Contact us to exercise any of these rights.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it last changed.
